Run for the STARS brings competitive runners together with families for more than just a race. They run to help support individuals and families in the STARS community. STARS ministry serves over 130 families impacted by disability, and parents do not need to attend College Church. Proceeds from last years run provided:
Full and partial scholarships for recreational camps where the STARS have a great time, and parents receive some needed rest.
Full and partial scholarships for entire families to attend retreats where they are refreshed in body and spirit.
Programs throughout the year where parents can drop off their STARS for fun and recreation for no charge.
Since there is a 90% unemployment rate for individuals with developmental disabilities, last year RFTS provided:
A grant that paid for job coaches at two resale shops, STARS Resale and Twice is Nice. These shops help train and supervise STARS in the workplace
Short sleeve performance cotton t-shirts for adults and kids
Electronic bib timing
Bib raffle Grand Prize: $500 Gift Card, and many other prizes
Custom medals for top 3 in standard CARA age groups
Cash prizes for top three finishers, male and female
50 yard DASH registered kids under 8, and for people with intellectual disabilities
